Cross Culuture Communication Homework#2

1. a. Yes, I do. I went to foreign country, stayed with a family. If someone of the family died, I will become very very sad. And, I can't stop crying. Then, I will send a letter of condolence to them or, I will call them. Because I want to tell the words of comfort and encourage them peosonally. When I was their house, they always take care of me very well. The good words are not necessary and think that I should be able to stream down what myself thinks at the time obediently.

b. No, I haven't. I have some international friends and host family, but i have never been to funeral.

2. a. The reason is because there is a thought selecting the human nature care and personality as with the clothes which person wear. I know it is not good thing to judge the person only their appearance. But, I think most people judge only appearance. And Japanese have a fixed idea that appearance is good equal to good peoson. For example, in the high-quality hotel, cannot enter by an appearance. This is not important for an individual, important for Japanese society. So, appearance is very important.

b. This means "Look at inside" for me. Because a cover seems to be pleasant, the contents may not be simple.

it is interesting comment. if your hostfamily member died, what kind of words do you use or write in your letter. I think it is difficult for me to write a sorrowing letter in English, even if it is difficult to do in Japanese, don't you think?
